Yay! so relieved I have just had my first Ofsted inspection, its over and I surprised myself that I did quite well too!

....the inspector was really nice and very encouraging about all the work, time & effort I have put in over the past 4 months of minding.

I received an Outstanding in most areas which I was absolutely amazed about! except I was a little disappointed to only receive a Good overall as she had to give me a Good for not having enough multi-cultural resources - I have loads of books, done/planned activities for festivals etc however she pointed out I needed something multi-cultural in my dressing up box too to achieve the Outstanding mark?? & a Good for partnership with other settings - again frustrating as I have made a number of attempts to contact the settings in writing but they have not responded, therefore she explained I couldn't obtain the Outstanding for this area
Plus she said she rarely gave 'Outstanding's on first time inspections. :(
Oh well, never mind...something to work towards next time I guess?

Thought I'd let you know how I got on & wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone on 'the Forum' for all your posts, help & advice as I would never have achieved the marks that I did without it.
...and a MASSIVE thank you & a huge recommendation to anyone having trouble with their SEF - buy Sarah Neville's e-book!! - thank you Sarah for guiding me in the right direction with my SEF, the inspector said that it was the best one she has ever read - Thank you

Well done, its such a relief when its over!
I had a similar experience when Mrs Ofsted asked if I had a sari or a wok!
I didnt - although I had lots of other multi-cultural toys, games, a variety of different coloured skin dolls, books, puzzles and lots of craft activities!
Think they just like to pick you up for something.

Seems very unfair to me that you were penalised because of the other settings failure to respond to your letters - you can't make them work with you, can you?
