I have sent the following email to Ofsted... :D

The Eyfs statutory framework states - 'For each type of outing, providers must carry out a full risk assessment';

The Ofsted inspector's handbook, dated Aug 2009, document reference 080164 states on page 60 that 'A risk assessment must be carried out for each specific outing with the children.'

This appears to contradict the Eyfs statutory framework.

Please clarify whether we need a risk assessment for each type of outing - one for parks, one for toddler groups, one for school runs etc OR whether we need a risk assessment for each outing - one for school 1, one for school 2, one for toddler group A, one for toddler group B etc.

Best regards,

clorogue

Oh wow! :eek: :D

Dear xx

Thank you for your e-mail.

You need to be following the EYFS statutory framework which states for each type of outing, providers must carry out a full risk assessment.

However I agree that the inspectors hand book is a bit unclear. I have forwarded your email to our Children's Directorate to see if we can get the wording of this amended.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

oh sarah you are good!

so excuse me for being a bit dim (long day and all that!)
so when they say each type of outing they mean one for a park, one for soft play etc? we don't have to do one for every park?

With my walking to sch one I have broken it down by days so I have listed the days mon- thurs and RA each one because I have different children on different days. Does that sound ok?
