No they don't usually make an appointment. They usually give you a few days notice, but sometimes they only give a days notice. They don't tell you when they are coming either they tell you it will be "sometime next week" for example.x

I had the phone call on a Friday & she wanted to come the following week. I told them which days I would be in & we narrowed it down to 2 days. She said she would be there by 10am, so if it got to that time on the first day & she wasn't there I knew it would be the next day.

I do know of other minders though who have had weeks (even a couple of months) notice

lol! I was so hyped up ready for the first day, then she didn't arrive! I was gutted!

At least I knew it was going to be the next day & I was much more relaxed.

I was told sometime next week.

She went on to ask who I had on what days. She came when I had 3 under 5's:rolleyes:

Was told if not with me by 10am she wouldn't be coming.

Try not to worry:D

My inspector rang on the friday and asked what days I was available the following week. I only gave her two options saying that I was busy and out, or had no children that day, she said that if she wasnt there by 10 on the Monday that she would be with me on the Tuesday. I was really nervous on the Monday but she came on the Tuesday which was alot better cos I had calmed down by then.
But my friend was phoned on a Wedneaday and the inspector wanted to come the next day, she managed to put her off till the following week, saying that she was busy.
They are all different, Im sure you will be fine when it comes to it.
A few funny things - a few years ago one large inspector got stuck in my spring loaded stair gate when it came unsprung cos I hadnt put it up properly, and she just kept apologising!
And my friends cat was sick all over the childrens toys during her inspection.

She was lovely and stayed for 2hr 45 mins
