I'm sure they can't just turn up! When I had my first inspection they called me the week before to find out what children I would be minding and when and then gave me two possible days. They said if they didn't come by 9.45am then they weren't coming.
Good luck

they can and do just turn up, but i'm sure they just want to see if you have mindees but if you dont have any and they need to get your inspection done they will still come out
you'll be fine hunni

Gosh, seriously??? Round here it seems the norm for them to call the week or so before though a lot of minders round here were called 6/7 weeks ago and told to stay in on certain days for inspections and they are still waiting
ring them and say your on holiday this week and they'll wait

hi, im a new childminder, i got my registration mid june and Ofsted phoned me last week to ask if i had any children, their ages and on what dates and times.
I explained that i had four kids just for the summer holidays and then i had two from September and they said that somone would call me in a few months to arrange my inspection.
hope this helps :)
