Got a phone call this morning from OFSTED. I asked her to call me back in 5 minutes just so that I could get myself together and write down a couple of questions I wanted to ask.

She told me to give her 3 days and she would choose 1 of the 3 to inspect me.

I told her I had not quite completed the SEF and she said she didn't want me to send it to her - she would look at it on the day (after all that work!!!).

She also said something that I felt a bit disappointed about (and she hasn't even arrived yet lol). As a lot of CMs have recently been inspected (all got a GOOD) I too am hoping for a GOOD as I feel I have worked hard enough since my last inspection. When I talked to the inspector she gave me the impression that she usually gave Satisfactory and rarely Good. She said if you are meeting requirements you will get a Satisfactory and if you can show me that you are exceeding requirements you will get a Good - but she said I would have to show her I am exceeding requirements because her bosses check to see that she is not just giving out a Good.

Have confidence in yourself & you'll be fine.

When my inspector phoned to say she was coming she said she knew I'd got good last time, but now because of EYFS you had to work even harder to get it again.
I had a momentery panic when I decided I was rubbish at it all and was going to pack it all in. I thought about it a bit more & decided that she could take me as I was. If I wasn't good enough it didn't matter - the children were happy & the parents were happy.
I was very relaxed on the day & I'm sure that helped as I could answer her questions without getting in a fluster. I actually enjoyed the day

So, relax, be yourself & don't stress too much about the grade

That's not a good start is it? She doesn't seem very open minded.

You need to start thinking about how you can sell yourself! Really pull out all the best things that you do and make a list.

Mention each one when you are talking to her :D

Thanks both :)

She mentioned learning and development and welfare - those are the things she will be concentrating on.

I feel sick. School holidays too  ah well, I will encourage the children to speak to her, not be shy - because I know they enjoy being here.

What about looking up inspection reports for your area and look for the ones carried out by the inspector you will have. See what she looks for and make sure you at least have everything in those areas well covered. It might give you some advantage.
Good Luck

Good luck!

i hope it all goes well.

No 2 inspectors are the same and she does sound quite tough. Mine didnt ask me anything about EYFS - despite me chanting it all the way to school and back to myself!

I really hope she's kind to you.

Good luck, can you get your older kids to write or draw a bit about what they love about being with you, that will boost your confidence as well as giving them something to talk about to her.

Hope all goes well.
