Who got graded 6s with CC?

Did you award yourself 6s? or did they decide you deserved them? What did they say as to why they felt you should be 6s?

Any tips for me? I am aiming to put myself forward for 6s ( will they think I am cheeky??)

I graded myself 4s and 5s last time and got all 5s, and I know I have got more in place and better in practice and reflected loads and put lots i learned in training ( and here of course!!) into practise, so I feel justified in putting 6s but then would be mortified if they think I wasn't worth them

There are a couple other cm locally who have gotten 6s though...

I was graded 2 6's and 3 5's. I got an overall 5. I was a bit disappointed as the C.C. officer said my service was outstanding and she believed I should have a 6 in all areas. She told me she would have to speak to her Manager first. The Manager obviously thought I didnt come up to the standard required & awarded an overall 5.

I graded some 5's and some 6's. C.C. Officer said I should give myself a pat on the back as I was doing a great job & she said the only thing that she could fault was that I hadnt recorded meetings with parents!!! I asked her how I could do this but am still waiting on an answer!

do you think anyone could get 6's in their first year ??

I'd say it would depend on the CCO tbh, I hate to say it but I don't think many would? wrong I know because if you are at that grade then regardless of what year you are on you should be granted it, but we all know that they don't work like that.

that is a bit sily of the CC!! There is of course always room to improve everything, but that does not mean that you cant be outstanding all 6s!
I don't understand why they have 6 greades if they then dont use them all...

I know a few people who got all 6's and the criteria from the CC say that:

'Excellent services will always be rigorous in identifying their own areas for improvement and implementing action plans to address them. There will be strong evidence that the service consults service users and carers regularly and appropriately about service quality and performance, and that their views are actioned upon'

So you've got to work hard at maintaining that level. But as usual it is down to individual cco's, I got all 5's and am not being inspected again until after April 2010, my cco did all but admit she wouldn't be giving 6's in the first year, wrong I know.

A few points have now been cleared up, I should have got a 6 for child protection cos I've done everything I could do, but some cco's thought you had to have implemented them to get a 6, rubbish, as cc has now confirmed that is not the case.

I've also read inspection reports of people who got 6's and I don't think they do any more than me, :)

Sorry I seemed to have waffled on a bit,:o

i was the same! got six 6's and two 5's, one 5 was for child protection, as everything was in place but my cco's line manager didn't think i could have a 6 due to not having had to implement my proceedures

.....Good luck with yours George :)

Def confirmed that this should not be the case, read the thing on the SCMA forum and the CC want to know who has been told this as it's totally false, so appeal if you can, you should get it upgraded :D

Eform submitted on 1st July, so just waiting to hear, did it this time last year too and didn't get insp till Oct!

I got an overall 5 grade & she was very complimentary about my service saying I deserved an overall 6 but that it was up to her Manager. Surely if she thought I deserved a 6 (having visited all the Childminders in my area during the week who got a mixture of 4's & 5's) then that is what I should have had. Pleased with my grade but do feel a bit peeved as none of the inspections she seems to have carried out have been consistent. One of my friends was told that she was downgraded to a 5 purely because she hadnt being doing a parent pack as long as some of the other childminders in her area! Mmmmm...... seems of bit petty to me! (sorry, do I sound a bit bitter?)

I don't think anyone really knew what was going on last year, lol, especially cco's!!

As George said a lot of things were cleared up through the SCMA forum, I'm not getting inspected this year, but will be aiming to get all 6's. My inspecter was one who thought everyone would get 3's or 4's the first year of the gradings. So to get all 5's from her was really good!!
