I had my first inspection today and got Mrs Ofsted from HELL, she managed to make me a nervous wreck, even her compliments for my organised portfolio (thanks to this forum) felt like a stab in the back. She didn't really give me a grade and left rudely commenting on my doormat. When will I find out my grade?
wow
i think i'd be ringing ofsted and asking them
i was told on the day

Oh heck!
I would put in a written complaint asap and ask for a re-inspection.
They should give you your grade before they leave and talk about your improvement points etc.
Sorry you've had such a nightmare, hope you are feeling ok! xx

That's very poor. She should have explained everything with you before she left & if there were problems she should have gone through these with you.
You need to phone tomorrow & see what's happening.

I agree with the others, she should have given you a grade there and then.
Give OFSTED a ring and ask them. Do you have her name, then you can tell them who inspected you.

My last ofsted inspection wasn't a particularly pleasant experience, what made me feel okay is knowing that the previous ones I have had have been okay.
I do feel for you, I would ring ofsted and enquire, and to be honest move on and enjoy minding, OFSTED are a necessary evil, but the day to day job will make up for that!

The only time I have known a grade not to be given is when they want to give an outstanding but have to go back and check.
Maybe you are the first one that she has given and she doesn't want to go back and do her paperwork.

Thank you for your replies, I have woken up feeling better, yesterday seems so long ago, my lo are happy today and I am liking the sunshine.
I rang Ofsted this morning, but they cannot give me my grade until the report has been produced (up to 15 days) once I have received my report then I have 24 hours to complain before it is published to the web site. I asked to speak to the inspectors supervisor but she couldn't help me find out who it is, or how to contact them.
Any idea how to get around this?

how about phoning back Ofsted and asking them to email/phone the inspector you saw so she can call you back.. I made a point of keeping my inspectors mob no just incase I needed to speak to her.. I'm sure Ofsted will happily pass on a message to the inspector .. then she can call you back..
good luck and let us know how you get on.xx

There is a complaints procedure on the website of Ofsted but for the life of me I cannot find it. Expect Sarah will be along soon as she always has the correct links.

UPDATE
My horrible inspector called me today and was all sweet and complimentary, she apologised for not going through the grading with me but said she had ran out of time !!! (it did take 4 hours)
She then thanked me for my hospitality and said that I should be proud of myself as I have got a GOOD.
I nearly fell over in shock.
All my sections were Good except for 2 which were satisfactory, she has finished my report and have asked OFSTED to check it before sending it out.
what a pity I can't have my inspection over the phone.
Will I complain about her ........ not sure what do you guys think?
she has giving me a brilliant start and she may have retired in 3 years time.

Doormat
As she stepped off the doormat onto my outside step she turned round and said I needed to clean the doormat as she can see dog hairs on it!!
Yes I do own a dog, but she is a bedlington terrier who doesn't shed hair, I got on my hands and knees but I couldn't see anything.
Maybe she likes to have the last word.
