You are still minding a child and can show what you do. Make sure you have all the right paper work in place for the other child ie a temporary contract, his emergency contacts and all permissions etc.

Is this child familiar with you? Make sure it is clear to Ofsted that the child is not one of your normal mindees. This will explain if there is any awkwardness or if the child does not seem familiar with your setting and its routines.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

You could ring Ofsted early in the morning and say that your mindee has cancelled and ask them to put it off until he's back.

If not, like Helen says so long as the paperwork is in place you'll be fine... good luck! :D

do you have the inspectors mobile number or tel number by chance?? if so
I'd phone early.. and make a decision after that.. I think as the others have said if you know the child and have the paperwork for child then could be just
as good... what is your gut telling you to do? if you can answer that then I'd go with your initial feeling, thought.. you always sounds very knowledgeable
in your reply to posts etc.. I'm sure you are gonna do well .. good luck for tomorrow!

just another thought If you don't know for sure that the inspector is coming tomorrow couldn't you just go out for the morning/afternoon.. ;) .. just a thought!

Actually that thought did cross my mind its my daughters fun run tomorrow I found this out after the call she wants me to watch its after the school run the inspector said she would be with me by 9.30 I just thought does she want me to stay in all day every day! Anyway I kinda want it all over and done with but on the other hand I would like her to see the relationship I have with my mindee. The child I am covering has been with me a week already and he is comfortable with the surroundings and me. I do know the inspectors name I suppose I could put her off until Tuesday but then I think well I will have more children to cope with then my daughter 3 and the 2 mindees 22mths and they fight over everything.
thankyou

My Inspector rang at half term to come the following day, when I said I was out she said it would be next week - that was three weeks ago!! So don't hold your breath.

If you have just one child i would go for it. You can always show her the EYFS paperwork you have for the children you mind. I would rather have one i do not mind than 3 that are bickering the whole time:panic:
