I was out today as I wasn't working. My husband came home and noticed that Ofsted had called. He rang them back and man said may not be an imminent visit it could be anything - they didn't leave any message on the answerphone. I was registered at the end of January and started minding in February.Would they be ringing to organise my inspection? Are they likely to come this week?Ifeel in a right panic because I haven't filled my SEF form in! I only mind one three year old for two mornings a week.It is difficult to really assess my service as I only have the one child. If I try to fill it in by hand and not on the computer will that be acceptable?I do work hard but am really worried that I will go to pieces on the day-4 or 5 hours of intense interrogation seems a lot to go through! If I mess it all up I will feel awful. If they are ringing to arrange a visit would I be able to ask for it to be next week or will they insist they come in this week?:panic: :panic: :panic:

If they are ringing to arrange a visit try and get them on a day when you are minding. It is likely if you were reg in January that you are due an inspection around now.

You cannot choose when they come but you can cut it down a bit by saying when you work.

Good luck!

I told my inspector that I tend to go straight from the school run to a toddler group and don't come home first so she had to book in for the following week!!

Like the others have said try to calm down!! yes, I would think they were ringing to book your inspection. I only had 2 very part timers when I had mine and they still came!!! MAde it easier that I was only woring 2 days a week so it had to be one of those days. They wouldn't gve me a date just said it would be one of those days in next 2 weeks. She came on the first of those days!!! SHe was here 2 hours then I had to take LO to pre school so my inspection was finished off over the telephone. I had filled in my SEF on paper by hand and not on line. She was fine with this was pleased with it and said I was only the 2nd childminder she had visited that had filled it in under EYFS.

Good luck when they phone back. Everything will be fine!!:)

Please don't panic. It really isn't as bad as all that. You've only been minding a little while and they vreally don't expect the earth. I actually had 3 weeks between the phone call and the date of my inspection!!! That was an agonising wait I can tell you.

Its a good idea to make a list of what you need to do. I did my SEF and submitted it but she didn't get it so just read it on the day. She came at about 9.30 and left at 12.30. My mindee went for a nap at 10.30 and woke at 12.15 so she actually only saw me minding for 45 minutes in the end.

Don't worry about only having 1 mindee - thats all I had as I have 2 under 5s myself.

I know what you are going through my call came on my mobile phone while I was at a playgroup last week, she is coming sometime next week. I've had some late nights getting things ready and my DO came to do a pre-inspection, which went well but I am still nervous. Good luck with yours let me know how you get on.

I wrote my SEF by hand cos my inspection leapt upon me. The Inspector was fine about this.
They will ring to make an appointment for when you are minding. good luck.
