Hello all again,

I applied for a variation as i curently have a 4 yr old mindee turning 5 in July, who i have from 3 til 7, and holidays 1 til 7, but a new parent has asked me to have her 2 children who are 2 & 3 until 4pm, so there would be an overlap of an hour in term times and 3 in the holidays.

I am only allowed 2 in early years at any one time.

So the inspector called today to make an appointmnt to visit next week to discuss it.

All she did say was that variations for new mindees are nearly always turned down, BUT as my mindee is in full time education they wouldnt class her as in the early years anyway, but seeing as i have still requested a variation she would still come out.

I asked her that as mindee would be classed as out of early years ( which she leaves officilly on August 31st anyway as shes 5 in July) i would still be able to have the two new ones as im allowed 2 in the early years anyway. But she said she'll still come out anyway and have a chat.

Do they just have a chat about the variation request when they visit and to check the space i have ?

I get all nervous when anyone from OFSTED say they want to visit !!

As you have not yet had a formal inspection then the inspector knows very little about how you organise things. Don't worry about it i am sure that things will be informal and that so long as she is happy that you have thought it through they will say yes.

Sorry - having a dippy moment, of course you have had it, you got a GOOD!

I still don't think there is anything to worry about regarding the inspector coming. Just explain the circumstances of why you are requesting a variation. In actual fact from what you have said you probably don't need one as once the child is attending full time school they are classed as over five anyway even though you still have to do EYFS until the 31st Aug after their 5th Birthday.

I am sure you will be fine:thumbsup:
