:cool: Ive had a call from a lady who wants me to pick up her daughter from nursery starting September. She only wants care for an hour a day and for half term etc.

How much would you charge for one hour after school? I pick my little boy up from the same school so im at the school anyway?

i just charge for the hour at normal rate but remember the child is most likely preventing you from taking on a fulltimer

if you charge per session then tell her even though its only an hour you still charge a session fee of whatever

I charge a minimum of 2 hours. So instead of charging my normal rate of £3 for 1 hour I charge £6

Its hard when people only need you for such a short time. Im assuming the child is over 5 so I would charge a min £5 for the hour.

I only do contracts for 6 hours or more as its not worth my while with paperwork etc and you have to consider that that hour is taking a place up so in the long run you could loose money xxx

Once I have my "core" group of children I am happy to do the odd hour here and there for people. So many childminders won't take on the "little bits" because it interferes with their numbers for fulltimers. I make quite a bit of money from doing the jobs that no-one else will :D

Min 2 hours a day' not worth it otherwise

I charge £3.50 per hour but after school is the session of £10 for collection of children from school, childminding and a hot dinner. Parents collect at whatever time.

The minimum cost rule sounds a good idea as it does take up a place. Im sure if you explained it she would take it.

I have got one of my lo's starting school in september and mum wants me to have her for an hour after school 3 nights a week(mum's friend will drop her off at me), i am planning on charging £5 per night (hourly rate is £3.50), but she is the only after schooler I have so I will have to make sure I am back just for her, hence the higher rate!:D

i feel expensive now, i charge £10 per session no matter how short . never had anyone put off by it though x
