I am organising my first month of proper planning which will be around transportation as the children are really keen on plane, trains etc, I would like two activites per week:
So far:
Coloring and cutting a paper train ( using cotton whool for smoke etc )
Making boats from box of butter spread and making them float in a bucket
Paper aeroplane
Bus story book
Understanding how many people per mode of transport
Any other crafty ideas?

Get a big box and make a car or a bus out of it.
Hot air balloon out of paper mache.
A train out of shoe box and kitchen towel tubes.
I took my to see the barges on the canal they loved that, mind I couldnt get Rosie and Jim out of my head for days!!!
I did a chart for them to sit with and tick which mode of transport they saw.

We made a bus out of a cardboard box. We each drew a picture of ourselves on small square paper and stuck them on to be the windows. I was the driver and drew a steering wheel on my picture and stuck it on the front.
We also made a big tunnel out of a large cardboard box for our bus to go under - also made a train decorated with yoghurt pot and toilet roll for the funnels

Cut out large cardboard trains, cars, helicopters etc and get them to print with cotton reels etc.
I save old Tesco ,Asda,Argos catalogues. Good for cutting out and sticking.
Painting using toy car wheels {cars running through paint then on paper} hope that makes sense
I'll try and think of more.

Don't forget you could also go out and about on different modes of transport bus, train, car, ferry (if nearby)!!
Could also incorporate road safety into it - role play in the garden with bikes and home made zebra crossing etc....

was going to say the same. that would include buying a ticket, safety (road/train etc), looking at items at bus-stop (numbers on front of buses) or different things you see at station.
Colours of buses/trains.
Might lead you nicely into road safety/similar theme too if children are interested.

Get the children to invent their own form of transport either by drawing (including the scribbles of the lo's), collage or by junk modelling - try & pick up a pack of round cardboard coasters, really handy for wheels!
Look at different types of wheels - tracks etc, how many wheels do different vehicles have?

We are also transport, it's dragging on a bit now though, but only because the older one says he wants to do things a different day.
Planning on making a bus out of a cereal box today. Was planning on making a train out of an empty 10 can diet coke box. lol But going to visit george stephenson's railway museum on wednesday as they are making trains out of junk. (Last minute planning)
Then going for a ride on the metro and up to the airport on thurs.
I am lucky to have all these available, but a trip to a local train station, bus station is other things i have thought of. Oh and making biscuits or something with transport cookie cutters. :)
Now all i need is reminding to put this all on paper. lol

Hi, on the primary times website there is a medium term transport planning sheet that you can down load for free. May give you some ideas, I think it shows the eyfs links too.
