Hello everyone,
I just thought I would let you all know how my inspection went this morning. I had the call on monday so have spent the past 3 days feeling physically sick. I had xx who was really nice. She was the same lady who did my pre-reg too. I got an overall GOOD but outstanding in many areas. I only registered in November last year so am so chuffed that the six months of hard work I have put in has paid off!
She was quite hot on paperwork and liaising with keyworkers in other settings. She was impressed with all of my paperwork but the one recommendation was to make sure I write up more on Next Steps. She said she didn't think there was anything I didn't know about the children I care for. She loved the questionnaires I give out to parents and the children's learning journals. She said that I could incorporate my observations book into the Learning journals to give myself less work to do, but to do what I feel comfortable with. Oh, she also said that Childminder's don't need to have a Visitors book. They're only really for nurseries and larger settings, or for childminder's whose partners work from home and have a lot of visitors coming and going all the time. She also like my risk assessments and how I update them every month and adapt them when I have new children start.
She hardly looked around my home at all. Didn't ask about first aid boxes or fire blankets... don't think she even noticed the smoke alarms. She liked my laminated cleaning rota, risk assessment rota, smoke alarm test log and my fridge thermometer test log which I have stuck up on my kitchen door. She said it's a good way of remembering to do it daily rather than having it in a book and forgetting about it. She said my report should be sent out within 15 days, so will hopefully get it before we go away!
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on here for all your encouragement, support and fantastic advice and ideas. I don't think I could've done it without you all!
I can look forward to my wedding and honeymoon now it's all out of the way... for three years at least! We having a BBQ tonight to celebrate! Yum yum :D
