I know that we should all know who has parental responsibility of our mindees, but does anyone know why? I have a child that lives with mum and her boyfriend, child calls him daddy but also knows she has another one somewhere! ive never met him. If she was ill or anything i would first try and contact mum and if not successfull would ring her 'dad'. he brings her every morning and is her 'daddy'. I know he wouldn't have rights if there was a medical emergancy but surely thats for them to decide at hospital and not us!

It is a legal requirement.

It has nothing to do with the rights of wrongs or a family situation.

Remember though that if parents choose not to give you the details there is nothing you can do about it.
