I have been open as a childminder for 4 weeks now. I only have one space for an under 5 as I have 2 DSs of my own. My current mindee is leaving on Friday (was only ever a 5 week agreement) and new mindee is starting on 1st June. Current mindees mum asked if I could take him back in Septmeber, and I have also received a phone call from a mum who came to visit me last week saying she would like a place for her little boy in September. So if I could extend my house, enroll DS1 in school a year early, and take on an assistant then I might be able to accomodate them all along with DS2:laughing:
It took me ages to get my first mindee - now look at what has happened:rolleyes:

Blackhorse it took me a long time to get anywhere. I gave up work at Christmas and my first proper mindee is not starting till 1st June. I was quite lucky as a friend wanted some short term minding for her little one so I got to practise on her son:eek:
When the mum came last week I found I was far more confident when I was talking about what I do with my mindee even though it is no different to things I do with my own 2 boys. I was also able to show her things we have made and his journal.
Hope all works out for you soon

I always say "mindees are like buses, don't see one for ages and then they all come at once"
