aren't we allowed some?
or do we have to write everything down?
keep reading things about ofsted inspectors marking people down for silly things ie getting run over crossing the road, i mean come on........ surely we don't have to risk assess or have policies for every breathing minute!!
Another example keys on doors, surely anyone wouldn't let a toddler out of sight long enough to leave a room, climb up a door and figure out a door catch???
I know we need policies etc, but marking people unsatisfactory for something thAt is basic common sense???
sorry but been thinking about this alot

Kerri I am surprised at you! You don't have a breathing policy! :panic:
I hope you've remembered to write a Risk Assessment for walking down the back step ;)

We have had childminders marked as Satisfactory because they didn't lock the front door after a parent left and some marked as inadequate for similar reasons.

I was marked down at my last inspection because I did not lock my front door (the back door is locked all the time unless we are going into back garden). The stupid thing is, I used to lock my front door but that when my hubby was going through the registration process last year, the inspector who came out to see him said ' just a tip for when you have your inspection. DO NOT lock your front door as it is your main fire escape and if it is locked you will be marked down'
We tried to plead our case, but the inspector was having none of it.
Don't you just love ofsted!
I was sooooooo tempted to show her the breathing policy

I am so with you ke30!
I do the very minimum paperwork, my risk assesements were done before my inspection, looked at and are now filed away for about two years, i will get them out and review them when the next ones due.lol
the inspector told me twice during my inspection that the SEF wasn't even compulsory, so i not completing that.
i think some people on here worry to much about paperwork and get into a panic about it.
I did the minimum and got a good which will do me lol:laughing:

as for the front door ... well if I lock it Hubby cant let himself in and I cant get out in an emergancy its my only unlocked door unless we are out in the garden ofcourse or am i sposed to lock the door when we are out there .... hmmm
breathing policy is now out of date as need to include gasmasks and their location!
