Hi

Just wondered if anybody out there could give me advice. Just had the dreaded Ofsted Phone call today, to say that they will be coming before the 15th May. Inspector will call next week to arraange a suitable day. I'm doping the following to make sure that I have everything upto speed paperwork wise, ust wodnered if their is anything else peoplecan advise. Also wondered from anybody just had Inspection, was there anything they were particular picky on in general, I know it depends on who you get.
Policies and Procedure gone through EYFS and made sure upto date
Inclusive practice (Religion, Culture and Disability.)
Safeguarding and Complaints
Planning and Observations
Multicultural Planning
General daily paperwork upto date.
Risk Assessments

I'm sure, I've missed something. I'd be grateful if anybody could reply.
Can't wait to get it over been dreading it for 6 months.

I know its hard but don't dread it!
Although saying that i did ,but was pleasantly surprised when i had mine. the inspector was lovely, she stayed about 3hrs and flicked through all my paperwork asking me if i had certain things but she didn't read everything in detail, just wanted to make sure i had it.
One tip though is to just be yourself, i was determined not to put on an act and just had a normal morning in with the children, i didn't set up lots of activites and constantly play with them, which she was impressed with. She said inspectors could always tell if childminders are acting differently than normal through the reaction of the children. i helped their play along when neccesary and we spent a lot of time chatting.
I got a good which i was pleased about and am more than happy with.
So just relax! lol:laughing:

Oh one thing i was picked up on was that the children didnt have any access to do mark making! so put some crayons out or something.
It annoyed me a bit as we are always drawing or painting but just wasn't that morning!:)

I agree with Jodie, just be yourself and try to relax. Despite what a lot of people seem to think, it's not all about paperwork & complex activities. Keep it simple & show how well you interact with the children. The inspectors can tell what's natural & what's not.

And don't forget, you can talk to the inspector and tell her things that you've done, but might not particularly be showing on the day.
