Well done, I had mine yesterday! I cannot understand why an Ofsted inspector would say such a stupid thing like she doesn't give outstanding, if one's deserved she should give one!

As you said though at lest that's it for another 3 years hip, hip horay :clapping:  :jump for joy: :clapping:

well done, I have to say I think it's unreasonable for Mrs Ofsted to say that, if outstanding is deserved it should be given. If another inspector came and saw you it may be outstanding? Doesn't make sense to me.

Enjoy your well deserved wine

Have a glass or two for me!!!!!!!!! I may have my inspection tomorrow :panic:
June next door had hers yesterday, and her inspector had a word and said as we work so closely together it makes sense for her to do mine too, and asked if I was working the rest of the week? well she hasn't been today, so I am guessing it will be tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Got to go now, need to find my house under this chaos!!!!!!!!:panic:

That is what mine said, as she opened the door followed by 'and i don't usually give goods either and i have already given one this week!'

I just said, oh thank you and in she came to interrogate me for 4 1/2 hours!!

Firstly may I say very well done !!!!:)
Secondly I am just so  who the flippin hell do these people think they are? If you are OUSTSTANDING then you are OUTSTANDING and thats that.
Who the hell is she to decide before she has even see you what grade you will get:angry:
So the childminder who is living in the next street to you and is as OUTSTANDING as you, gets OUTSTANDING because she is inspected by an Inspecter who follows the OFSTED Inspectors code of practice, and yes they are all supposed to work to this. Yeah right:angry:
I am shaking , I am so flippin mad:angry:
If I have offended anybody then i am sorry but i feel very strongly about this.

Well Done Relax and enjoy .
I have not managed to relax yet, I will feel better when Carolyn has her inspection tomorrow. The inspector mentioned a couple of things at my inspection yesterday so we have tweaked Carolyn's . It was a quite a nice inspection :)

well done, and goodluck to carolyn.

If my inspector says that about outstanding, i will say something. I couldn't care what I get, its my first one and i'm going to use it more for guidance and insurance i'm doing it right. But if i deserve good i want it

It is sad when the level of grade you get is almost as much to do with who inspects you than anything else. My cm friends could not understand why i didn't get outstanding and thought i was joking when i said good! One other who got good had a much shorter inspection and the lady was lovely and didn't look or question 75% of the stuff. Another cm who got outstanding had less stuff and they wanted a lot less from her in a lot less time.

I know that some of this comes down to more than just what you have but my inspection report read the same as theirs but the grade wasn't given because of the inspector i had.

I am cross that it was good when her comments to everything were well that makes you satisfactory so what makes you good!! Why did i get a good then if i was only satisfactory, and why was another childminder who openly agreed that i was the same as her and better on paperwork got an outstanding.

I personally would love an outstanding except that i would then feel pressured to keep to that and would be disappointed with myself if it slipped to good, and i believe that i am good everyday, rather than outstanding because like another cm friend who got it had reclused themselves for the month before the inspection! I did not do anything over and above and would be the same with no notice, my inspector phoned late afternoon and came the next morning, so apart from putting the files on the table i did nothing else.

It should be far more of a tick list exercise for some of the areas, you have it or you don't and then higher guidance given to the grades their give where they have to use judgement on how the children are with you and your interactions, we will have to live with the indescrepancies otherwise.

Well done - it is a shame that your grade is almost determined before the inspector comes (whether or not they give outstanding), I was very disappointed with my "Good" a month ago - and the parents and other childminders were very suprised too - but I have come to accept it now and just very pleased that it is over and I can relax and enjoy the job again.

Mine didn't give me any advice on how to get outstanding, only one really small recommendation about working more with other settings, so that is the only improvement I intend to make at the moment.

Hope you sleep better now - the wine should help! :clapping:

Hi, i was told by ofsted at a meeting a few months ago that ofsted inspectors are not allowed to say 'they dont give OUTSTANDINGS out' and if childminders are told this then they must complain, and if you think you deserve the higher grade then appeal.
That historical building stuff makes me laugh, what is a child ( EYFS)going to get out of that, i think mine would be bored.

Well done anyway
