I have just spoken to OFSTED about a variation of numbers for two hrs on one day a week and only until September. She told me what to do but didn't give me any detail. It is for continuity of care.
Also, do OFSTED need to visit me for this and how long will they usually take? They couldn't tell me anything on the phone earlier.
Many thanks guys

were you advised to put it in writing?
state in a letter that it is continuity of care, the 2 hours and day that its needed and the ages of the children you will have during those 2 hours.
You will then have to call them again in september for changes to be made and most likely a letter in writing too.

As long as it's for continuity of care (ie all children concerned are already settled and have been attending a while) or so that you can care for a sibling of an existing child then Ofsted are usually ok about granting a variation.
As others have said, write your letter giving them the full details of when the variation is required for, including all children and their ages, and how you will be able to cope with caring for the all eg having double pushchairs, more than one highchair/travel cot etc.
