Has anyone beeen granted a variation if your (A) a new minder (B) gonna be over your limit by 2 mindees for a couple of hours, over lapping (c) over limit by 2 but they are in pre school.

coz got an enquiree for 3 boys. There is another minder round here but has no children of her own, and nobody seems to go to her, so i thought i'd maybe try accomodae her if poss. Her boys are 6 (hes ok) but then theres a 4 year old which will be in full time school, and a 2 year old. I also have a 1 yr old a 2 yr old and a 3 yr old. (will be sept you see.)

monday : over is 8 - 9 four (meant to be 3 max) then 9 - 1130 three (thats not including the 4yr old at school also 1 of these here at pre school) 1130 - 1 three ( again not including the one in school) 1 - 330 four ( not including one at school) Max is three!

Wednesday ; (remember 4 year old in fulltime school) 1 - 230 four ( 2 in pre school),

friday : (remember 4 year old in full time school) 8 - 9 four, then 12 - 130 four.

confusing i know.

Variations are generally granted to accomodate changes in circumstances of existing mindees or to accomodate a sibling. They are not normally granted to allow you to take on more children. However saying that you can but ask. I would give ofsted a ring and ask them.

hello, i have recently applied for a variation to have another child in the EYFS age group and had it granted, i sent Ofsted a letter with photo's of play room etc, list of resources and hours of ll children, also enclosed all risk assesments and fire safety records. thinkni just confussed them with paper! then to be really cheeky i asked for another variation as one of my mums is having a baby. i got that one too!!!!

I applied when a new one was starting for the whole week and I needed the variation for 4hrs they rang me and gave me a straight NO. It wasn't continuity of care, however they would do it if you took on the other children for a week or two FIRST before you took on the child that you would need the variation for. That is what the inspector has told me to do in Sept as I will be over my numbers and they have signed contracts but will technically be new so they told me to have the older child first and then apply for the variation to take on the sibling.

I see.

I think.

Thank you all. Think I will leave it. I will pass her on I think. I can't see me getting the variation to be honest.

HI

I have recently been granted a variation in order to take on a new child. I wrote Ofsted a letter detailing exactly when I would be over my numbers and I included a copy of a risk assessment I carried out to show how I would accomadate the extra child.
They rang and said no, but I said I had done a 2hr settling in session with the child - 2 days later my new certificate turned up!
You never know until you try.....
