Pheeeewwww!
Just to let you ladies know, my visit went amazingly well yesterday (i call it a 'visit' because it was far from the 'inspection' that i was dreading!) And she offered put my numbers up too!
I had a lovely lady xx on the Hampshire area, who is based in the Southampton area. She graded me GOOD in all areas with 1 recommendation to compile a loose form of written planning for activities but to keep it child led and adapt it wherever approriate.
I have been stewing over my inspection for weeks as she gave me 4 weeks notice (some of you may be thinking, lucky madam, we only got 2 days!)
I have used 2 cartridges of black ink printing all my policies and procedures, parental forms ect! I put together a bound parents pack which she was impressed by, she was also impressed by my observations book for my main mindee and gave me tips on how to link each page of observation to the eyfs, basically writing the priciple (usually more than 1) the child has shown on the page (most of the activities we do with the kids hit most of the principles anyway)
She made good comments on my fire evac log and that i had done it monthly from different parts of the house.
She said some inspectors expect a guest book but she doesn't think it's necessasry for a small home setting. She was so lovely that she even commented on those few horrible inspectors that give them all a bad name.
I don't really think she said much else apart from that inspectors know if you've bought policies/sef's ect from ebay or other sources because they come around again and again eventually and that some people have procedures that are obviously not carried out ect.
She also informed me that in 2011 all childminders will be expected to complete the level 3 diploma in line with pre-schools and nurseries.
Anyway, enough rambling from me, just thought i'd let you all know some of the points that might me useful to you.
I enjoyed a lovely large glass of wine last night to congratualte myself on a stressful few weeks!
Good luck to all that have inspections looming, i hope your inspectors are all as wonderful as mine :jump for joy:
Much Love
Carley
