You need to contact your local one aswell as they might want to come out and visit you (mine did). They will want to see that you have completed the folder from the FSA.

Its not anything to do with wether you have done a food hyginene course or not I'm afraid.
It has everything to do with:
Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs, Article 6 (2)
You are required under the above legislation to register your business with your local Environmental Health Department as a Food Business Establishment. It is a legal requirement.
This has come in under EC regulations and it now doesn't matter where you live it applies acrosss the country. It will just be a matter of time before you get a letter from your local Environmental Health Dept. but be assured it will come and in the meanwhile there is nothing to stop you ringing your dept to ask what they are doing.
The only way you may not need to register is if your parents bring packed lunches and you only provide water . The moment you reheat food brought by parents the above legislation applies.
You currently may not need a Food Hygiene Certificate, although it is good practice, but I suspect that if we have to comply with the above it won't be long before we will be required to have a Food Hygiene Cert.

Ricky, one of your points about water, you need to register in our county even if its only water you are serving, I did argue with them but they were adament.

No you don't have to register if you only serve water with a cold lunch provided by the parents. I had a letter with all the definitions from my department on Sat. I can't lay my hands on it at the moment as soon as I can I will post the defintions for you.

There was a big hooha in my area when it was mentioned about having to register. Our local council have decided that only nurseries and childminders with 2 or more people registered on the premisies will need to be registered with the FSA. This has been agreed with the council and the FSA but who knows what will happen in the future.
