Hi I was just wondering if anybody had had an early inspection before the 2/3 years usual one. I heard that they may just call you even if you have recently had an inspection, since the eyfs was introduced....or is this just a rumour. I had mine at the end of 2007 so hoping they won't come till late 2010. Can anyone confirm this is true?:panic:

Also when you ask for a variation on your certificate. Do they come out to you or just call on the phone to discuss? Was wanting my hubby to have sole charge of our child on his day off, so I can then have 3 under 5's? If hubby were ill then I of course would have to cancel 1 child. Nothing in the pipeline, but thought it would give me possibility to say yes to a parent for that 1 day should they enquire.

Thanks for reading hope it makes sense!!:)

i don't think they will do that as they take your own children into acount even if you were to put them in nursery or something like that

The inspection before last was 4 months early.

I can remember panicking a bit cos I wasn't ready - I had a bathroom suite sitting in the lounge when she called and I didn't think it would go down too well. I was honest and told her - she said it was fine. Anyway my husband, bless him, managed to squeeze most of it in his shed until after the inspection.

It took another 2 weeks before he started fitting it so I am glad it was moved in the end. It would have driven me mad.

I have been registered for a couple of years longer than you. I have had loads of variations in my 14 years and Ofsted have never come to see me or inspect me because I requested a variation.

Usually you write to them with all the details, a grid of the days of the week filled in with who you have and their hours is a good thing to send with the request and then they usually ring you to check and talk things through.

No Idea about the inspections. I had my last one in Jan 2008 and it was 4mths late and she told me it would be at least three years before they came again. So hopefully I won't see them until 2011. I can't see them doing early inspections just for the heck of it, they seem to have enough problems keeping up to date without getting ahead of themselves!!!!!!

There are a couple of cms near me who should have had their inspections last July and September and haven't even had a phone call yet!!!!!

I have asked for a variation for my husband to look after my son as he is at home all the time. I wrote to them asking the question and they sent me the form stating what they were going to change the certificate to and a letter for me to sign if I didn't want to appeal. They then just sent me the new certificate it was that simple. Hope this helps you in some way.
