had a call from an inspector yesterday abouting coming to do my inspection. i havent had one for nearly 4 years she said im one of the 'forgotten' ones, she has said she will call me back to arrange a day to come out (really worried she will just turn up!)
she seemed really nice and gave me a few pointers she said the main thing she would be looking for would be 'inclusion' now i have a policy on this and have a few toys- books, dolls, jigsaws etc showing different race people, jobs etc
what else could i do? also what other recommendations can you make to ensure my inspection goes smoothly?? i feel sick at the thought of them coming :eeeek:

there are quite a few threads where members have posted about their inspections and grading etc. Most have posted pointers on there that their inspectors commented on so its really worth looking through them all to see how others got on.
I'm a forgotten childminder too, last I heard was ofsted would be coming out anytime in the next 2 wks but that was 5 wks ago now.

I am sure you have no need to worry but i just had my inspection and she was hot on inclusion too so if this is any help -
I look after two Polish children and we have some basic words i printed off with their Polish equivalent on a notice board
I found a site - can't remember name with numbers 1-20 in several languages and i printed off the German and French ones
British Sign Language is a good one - you can get pictures of the A-Z which on mine shows multicultural hands too.
Remember is not all about other cultures its also including all age groups in activities. Having booster chairs for the table - a step availa ble to reach sinks when needed, different types of paintbrushes, crayons and fitting an activity around everyone and being eady to adapt it as it goes on. We did some painting of foods when the inspector was here and it turned in to finger painting with the two year old with lots of mess!
Hope it helps and good luck with inspection:thumbsup:

re;inclusion.
could you write up a few activities you have done. Cake making, painting, duplo etc...write up the activity, what equipment you used, how you supported X with mixing, Y with counting cake cases and Z with putting mix in...or how Y didn't need support in building big tower and counting but Z did...does that make sense...you can do it from memory.
If you can put a bit about how you could adapt this activity and if it went well, kids enjoyed it and you plan to repeat it.
This will be something to show her.
Good luck.
