Well you all my predicicament and down the local school today there were other minders talking and they asked me how I got on and when I told them I still didnt know they didnt believe me but then one went on to tell me one of the other minders she knows from a different area had an inspection 2 weeks ago and just told Ofsted that because she is retiring in a few years shes not doing EYFS and got her parents to sign a letter saying that they dont want any assessments done on their children. I have been told that the inspector accepted this and still graded her GOOD!!! :censored:

I dont feel this is fair when so many have tried really hard and worked butts off to get things in place and either get Satisfactory or Good.

I have tried to look for the report on Ofsted but I dont think its there yet but have any of you heard of this?

wow
if it were that easy we would all be opting out, sounds like a porky to me but I'm no expert.

Well, I'm only hoping to dothis for a few years - if we can use that as an excuse it'll save me a whole lot of time and effort!

The only thing I have heard is one parent wouldnt sign to allow childminder to take photos and do obs etc.

She was doing them on the other child and Ofsted were ok about it!!!!!!!!

There is an exeption to EYFS read section 4.3 in your statutory framework, however I was under the understanding only the secretary of state could make these exemptions not Ofsted. I do think that it is wrong, if you were following the EYFS and not doing well on the paperwork side you could well get a satisfactory, but still doing better than someone not bothering at all!!!

There are certain circumstances where you can opt out of parts of the EYFS but I am not sure exactly what these are.

I don't think that the fact you are intending to retire is one of them

You are only hearing this third-hand and it's most likely been exaggerated.

If that inspector ever came into my house he would be asked to leave and I would report him for pre judging my setting which of course he can't do.

I believe that schools can opt out of the EYFS under certain circumstances, not too sure about childminders. I do know that some of our childminders asked NCMA and they were told that they couldn't opt out.
We have also had inspectors who have said that they would never give childminders outstanding. I I have reported them to NCMA and hope that they take action)!!
