The easiest way may be to do a risk assessment for the time you will have them. At least you will have shown that you have thought about things.

Definately do a risk assesment.

I did them for separate regular outings that we take and the inspector was very impressed with this.

Other than that, make sure all your paperwork is in place, child development folders with their weekly assements in them, policies, parent welcome pack, planning, first aid. They will also check your knowledge on the EYFS and if you understand what you should be doing and how you go about impementing it for children at different developmental stages. Also complete yoiu Self Evaluation form, they can read it and know what you are about before they come and see you. My inspection lasted 2 and a half hours, which is not too bad seeing as my friend had one there for 4 hours.

My inspector was very hot on safeguarding policies and asked about my emergency evacuation proceedure and whether I had practised in on the children and if so how I went about it. She also asked if the children had heard the smoke alarm, which they have as the toast got burnt once and off it went. She said that it is good for them to hear it so that they know that it means danger.

Most importantly, dont forget to breathe!!! I really stressed myself out over the past week or so and it was all for nothing, they are only human and are there to help as well as make sure we are doing a good job.

Good luck, if you need any help with policies etc, pm me x
