Ofsted left a message on my answerphone whilst I was doing the school run re: my impending inspection.

I know I have got to phone her back, but wondering if I can leave it til Wednesday!! I am going away on Friday and won't be back til next Thursday and I have no children Friday.

Just panicking as I can't seem to get my head round EYFS at the moment.
Not had any training to help us.

I will phone her tomorrow and explain the situation, so hopefully she won't come until the week after half term. Is it better to have more than one child here?

I look after J who is 2 1/2 every day, but 3 days a week he is at preschool in the morning and sleeps for about 2 hours before I do the school run at 3. I also have G who is 1, 2 days a week. I only have the 2 of them together Tuesday afternoon when J sleeps or Wednesday when I do the music group in the morning and J sleeps in the afternoon. The parent's pay for the music group. Will inspector come too or will I have to forgo that, do you think?

I don't want to be marked down because I don't have enough children. After school I have 2 extra's, sometimes 5, so not sure what she will do.

dont think u get marked down just because u only have 1 child, they give u satisfactory if you have none, for obvious reasons, but I have never been marked down for having the 1 child.

I would call them and explain u are going away. hth

I don't ring them back... you'll never find the person who rang you!

They won't just turn up unless they are responding to a complaint, so you'll get another call

I would not chase them up

If they do call you and catch you unawares just explain that you are on a 2 week holiday so can they come after

That will give you some extra time to get things ready too

Dont panic you will be fine

Enjoy your holiday

Hi

I only had one child - not even one of my under 5s because she came in the school holidays when I don't mind. I asked mum who lives down the road if I could "borrow" her child for the day for my Inspection.

I explained that I did not normally mind during hols and she said this was fine.

If your child needs a sleep while inspector is there that is OK - you are simply meeting the needs of the child which is what we are supposed to do.

She can then spend the time looking through your policies and books and asking any questions.

Good luck

Let them ring you back. I only had one child on the day of my inspection which was a godsend!! Made it much easier to talk to the inspector without being torn in half. Don't worry and good luck.

I wouldn't ring them back either, wait for them to ring back, hopefully they won't catch you in till the end of the week then they'll arrange to come after the holidays.

I rang them back when they left a message for me because I felt more in control by doing that.

I have only one mindee and it doesn't make any difference other than it's probably a lot easier not to be worrying about children all going in different directions while the inspector is there!

Good luck!

Although she left a number for me to call back on, I have decided not to at the moment.

I'm too busy looking after kids to make any phone calls!!!
I will phone her tomorrow and say I am going on holiday and won't have any kids until after half term. That way I will have a bit more time to write up my obs etc.
Thanks

Nope, and I'm going away tomorrow!!!!

Coming back Wednesday, no kids for the rest of next week so will have time to get the house clean (dogs and muddy garden don't mix!!!) even if she phones to say she will be coming on the Monday

I phoned mine back for the simple reason was I didn't want to be jumping everytime the phone rang - I wanted to know when she was coming so I had something to work towards - because of Hols and outings she came 3 weeks later.

Don't cancel any of your groups - we go out 3 days a week to various things and she fitted in with me so that I didn't have to stop going just because Ofsted were there.

Also they won't mark you down because you have 1 child - I can only have 1 under 5 so she didn't have a choice. My mindee and my own 2 children were alseep for 2 and 1/2 hours of the 3 she was here and I still got a good, so don't panic.

Well, I chickened out after having the phone call.

Didn't haven't any kids for half term and I was away. Made an effort to finish my SEF.

I submitted it this morning and then phoned the lady back this afternoon.

I told a little white lie and said only just listened to her message as somebody had listened to it and not told me!!!

Anyway, she looked on her list and told me she's not got me booked in for March, but that doesn't mean to say I won't get a phone call.

So now the waiting begins!!

if your inspection is due, just wondering when you were registered (as opposed to when you started minding - wondering about the time frame I should expect - as just had a call from Ofsted about my childminding status - as registered in Dec. Wondering if it's the norm for them to call about this?

I've been registered since May 1989. My last inspection was Sept 2005 so I am overdue. Knew I was going to get a phone call soon. Just a waiting game now I suppose until they phone to arrange a date!!

I know someone who had only been minding one child for 3 months and was given an outstanding. Mind you that was pre-EYFS!
