i put a variation letter in requesting 4 under 5 on tuesday and fridays. she said no i wouldnt be able to cope. aaaaaaargh they have got me so mad. i had a good letter from the childs mum. i told her that i have found an assistant to work them two days, so i asked if we could do that instead. She said i have to write another letter to up my numbers. What do i put in this letter? do i need to send them a matrix about the attendance of the children?

I tried that with the variation I asked for it was only for 2 hrs 2 days a week for 2 under 1s I put the hours ages etc and everything in so they could see who I had when etc. They rang me and said they didnt understand the letter. They still refused. they said this was because it wasnt siblings but I do know others around here have had variations that havent been siblings for a lot longer hours than I was asking.!!! good luck xx

Did they say why they didn't think you would be able to cope?

Is the variation for siblings or for continuity of care?

You might be able to challenge their decision but if you have sorted an assistant then it looks like you've already worked out a way round it.

it was for continuity of care for a 1 year old because it was a temp contract and she wants me to continue looking after her while her grandma was ill. a 12 week old baby was going to take her place 2 days a week. i have sent ofsted the forms of my new assistant. ofsted told me to write a letter to them about putting my numbers up.
