Ihad my first inspection last friday,I didnt know she was coming and was so shocked when I answered the door that my knees went to jelly.Anyway I got a GOOD with outstanding outcomes, which i have to say was very happy with, but then the inspector said, she wanted to give me outstanding overall, but couldnt because I hadnt been doing it long enough, which has annoyed me a bit......Is there anyone else that this has happened too???

She just turned up without any notice AT ALL  Didn't know they could do that. Thats scary :panic: . well done on the result, especially as she caught you off guard so to speak  Unfair that you couldn't get outstanding in all areas but i suppose if thats the same for everyone then nothing really any of us newcomers can do but just try and go for outstanding at the next one i guess. Good is FAB though!!! WELL DONE :clapping:

Thats fantastic to be so ready when they have come unannounced for your 1st inspection. I hope they don't just turn up with me, I'm not ready!

Did you phone them to let them know you had mindees on the role?

I'm afraid I wouldn't have let them in, i would have told them i was on my way out and they would have to come back, they can't just expect you to drop everything and disrupt your plans, I would have been so angry.

I agree - I think you deserved it too!

Never realised there was a qualifying period  Think I'd be tempted to query that one

Well done anyway - it's a fantastic result

well done!!! I got a phone call at midday to say the inspector was coming the next day with their supervisor. I received good overall with elements of outstanding. Thankfully i was ready but I would have been very annoyed if they just turned up. there is not reason why inspectors should call unannounced.

They can turn up if they want - it's their right, especially if someone has made a complaint.

You should work each day as if someone from Ofsted might knock on your door... :panic:

Well done on your inspection result! :D

Thank you ladies, for all the congratulations,it means a lot.My inspector had rung me a few weeks ago,and just said that she would be coming in the next month,I must admit I had been catching up on my paperwork over christmas, but I thought I was only due an inspection after a year.
I am very pleased with the result and my inspector was lovely and had some good tips for me ,she had a coffee and watched the kids, I wont worry again. THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR THE WONDERFUL ADVICE AND FOR THIS FORUM XXXXX

Congratulations on your fantastic result. Other people have been getting outstanding - so have they been doing EYFS since Before September??? how can that be right? Bet you feel a bit shortchanged because there's nothing you can do about it apart from do it a bit longer:rolleyes:
Well done

Well done!!:clapping: Fantastic result:clapping:

My inspection was 2 weeks ago, I have been registered for 12 years and like most of you started to impliment the Eyfs from September. I have always got Good and was surprised to get Outstanding this time. It can be done!!

Congratulations!!

Yes i was doing EYFS before Sept and it did help getting Outstanding! but on my first inspection she did say that she wouldnt give outstanding out to a new minder because her boss would say 'how can she be outstanding when shes only been minding a few months'
well done anyway

First of all WELL DONE:clapping:

I think that is grossly unfair not to award you an outstanding outright, didn't know that they couldn't if you hadn't been minding for xxx time. Seems a bit off to me.

But nevertheless - WELL DONE that is a fab result

I don't think it is fair either, you deserved outstanding and should have got it! :(

Never mind - you are outstanding in all our eyes! (if that is any consolation!)

Congratulations thats a great result at no notice. I don't think it's fair not to give outstanding just because youare new. A few people in my area have got outstanding first graded inspection.

I think it's very unfair the different times people have to prepare from nothing upto as much as three weeks!!!!!! surely everyone should have the same
