My bathroom is half way upstairs on the turn of the landing. I am registered to allow the children to go there but not into the other rooms upstairs. For my last inspection I put a safety gate downstairs and another just after the bathroom. Does anyone know if I really need to have two gates. Would I be allowed to just put one upstairs to prevent children going into the bedrooms and not bother with the one downstairs. The youngest child I have is two year old and he manages the stairs ok.

I would say leave it all alone for now and ask the inspector for advice next time she comes.

Only Ofsted know what they want to see... sometimes

I would agree with keeping the bottom gate. Even a 2yr old can fall down a few stairs.

I was told by Ofsted that until the youngest child is 2 1/2 you still need a gate. I would leave it just incase.

I was unsure about this so will take advice and keep both gates. Thanks, your help is really appreciated. :)

I would keep the bottom gate on as a 2 year old could still trip and i think ofsted would see it as a safety issue
