I've got to do my own SEF sometime and also the pre-school committee's SEF and i don't have a clue with some of the terminology even.
As the secretary and i can't see why I have to do it. I thought it was something the pre-school leader had to do.
She knows the children and she is a grade 5 manager! I think i'll just give it to her and say i don't even know where to start

i thought it was the leaders responsibility to write the sef - not a secretarys, no offense but if you don't know the children or see much of the day to day running you definately shouldn't be doing it. sounds like they are palming it off on you.

They think they are doing me a favour! That it will give me practice as i'm going to be a childminder after all. They were trying to get the policies done by me as well. The pre-school leader kept saying it was a committee responsibility.
Well, we only have 3 officers, the Chairman (he knows nothing about the kids), the Treasurer (runs her own bussiness and hardly has time to come to the school, the nanny does drop offs/pick ups) and that leaves me as the only committee member who actually sees the pre-school leader everyday.
We do have some general members but they are too busy (of course).
Oh Dear, sounds like i'm dissing them. But at least my local council think its good that i'm involved in the community as well.
I've been involved with the pre-school for 4yrs now and in October it would have closed until we were saved by the Chairman at the last minute.
Our previous Chairman was married to the pre-school leader and she decided that she was NOT going to do EYFS and she basically retired and they left it all to ME to sort out.
Still a bit miffed with them  But the important thing that the pre-school is going from strenght to strenght now and will benefit future generations :)
