I don't have any under 5's here at the moment so I arranged with the inspector to come on Thursday to meet the over 8's and come on a school run with me and when we get back I will invite the new children and their parents round who I will be looking after soon and the inspector was happy with that

Thank you but Ofsted might not be coming now. I won't have any under 8's here as the two new children that should have started last week are poorly and the inspector doesn't think she's coming now but she's supposed to let me know today.
I'm disappointed.

The Ofsted inspector has just phoned and said she will be coming tomorrow but she will come back again once the new children have started, which we are both happy with.
She did mention that she could do my inpsection just for the Over 8's (an only come the once) but it was very possisble I would get just a 'satisfactory' grade. She then asked how I felt about that and I told her I thought it was very unfair.

Its VERY unfair. Its not your fault that the children are poorly
Sounds like she was not being at all understanding.

I had the first part of my inspection today and I think it went well but they didn't comment on anything. They asked me lots of questions and they were very keen to find out whether I had written proof of which parents had parental responsibility. They had a good look at the way I do the EYFS and they asked if I had the recent Ofsted poster on display, which I did.
As I don't have any under 5's here at the moment they are going to come back and do the second half of my inspection in a few weeks. She took home my folder with all my policies in so she could read them at home. She also asked for my website address so she could look at that at home too.
I didn't have chance to ask her any questions but she did notice the golli I had and she wasn't very impressed with it but I'll post more about that in the golli thread.
She didn't like dog, in fact I think she might have been scared of them and I have a German Shepherd so I had to put her in another room.

I felt very disappointed yesterday. The inspection went well and the inspector was lovely but my grade was 'Good' in most area's with an 'Outstanding' in one area. I didn't have any actions or recommendations and the only reason why I didn't do better is because I haven't had any under 5's so I couldn't provide any evidence of the EYFS. I felt like saying come back in a couple of months which would give me time to work with the children.
The two new children I look after have only been twice and I could prove my planning and observations with them but as they haven't been here long enough for me to do much with them I didn't get a higher grade.
The reason why I feel so disappointed is I have lots of evidence for the older children and my grandson but they can't count it :(
My tips to anyone having an inspection make sure you have under 5's on your books and make sure they are there when you have an inspection. If I hadn't of arranged for the mum and the two children to come round yesterday the inspector said she would have given me a 'satisfactory' as that is all they can give apparently.

Oh that sounds really unfair and no wonder you're disappointed.
You have the right to challenge their decision so I'd wait for your report to come through (that will give you time to build up some EYFS evidence with the new children) and, if you're still unhappy, I'd challenge the decision.

Thanks for the advice Miffy :)
I'm still disappointed. If I had only deserved a 'good' I would have been happy with that but as I didn't get a higher grade just because of the under 5's I don't think it's a fair grade at all but that's the rules and it will affect other childminders at some point too.
The annoying thing is, I have lots of evidence of the EYFS but obviously it's for the older children as at the time I didn't have any under 5's. Ofsted could see the work I've done and commented on how good it was but it still made no difference because it wasn't for under 5's.
I really think they need to change the grading system.
