Wales is having a consultation on possible changes to the 21 standards at the moment http://www.childcarecymru.co.uk/
some of the questions being asked:
Do you think that childcare provided for less than 2 hours and / or 6 days
a year should be regulated?
Should there be a system of compulsory or voluntary registration or
approval of childcare and other services for children and young people
aged 8 to 14 years?
Should there be a system in place that allows family members to be paid
for providing childcare so that parents can claim against the cost?
How should the Regulations and National Minimum Standards be changed
to require risk assessment that balances risk against the benefits of the
play opportunity, rather than an avoidance of all unnecessary risk?
How should the National Minimum Standards be revised to take account
of the Foundation Phase? (different from EYFS)
Should the regulation be amended so that potential childcare providers
who are not required by law to obtain planning consent do not have to
provide evidence that they don’t?
Any one that has any comments can send a reply through the website before Feb 6th 2009
Just thought that some in Wales & some elsewhere would like to comment
