Did your inspectors give an indication of how much EYFS provision or what they expected to see in place for reception age children?
My inspection is due in the next couple of weeks and although I have good learning journeys/planning etc in place for my younger mindees I have very little in place for my reception child.
He only attends 1hr before school (and takes that long to eat his cereal!) and by the time we get home after school he only has 1/2 hr to play and obviously doesnt want to do anything much.
Did your inspections give any clues as to whet they expect for this scenario?

My inspection was in December. I am very similar with my reception child. I only have him for 3/4 hour after school. My inspector was quite happy with me providing snack and free play and no planning/obs specifically for this child. She did say however that if I had him in the school hols I should carry out some observations and include him in my planning (in reality it's a very rare occurance that I have him in the school hols so not an issue really).
I got the impression that it really all depends on how long you have the child for and that it would be a valid observation to say that the child was tired after school so you make arrangements for free play (providing toys etc that link to the child's interests) or quiet activities etc IYSWIM. My inspector was more interested in the links between school and myself, how we transferred information, how did I find out what he was doing in school etc

thats a relief. Mine is term time only so no holiday issues, and I have good links wih the school :thumbsup: . Parents have signed a permission to info share form and thats in his file too. I get regular news letters and do try to follow his interests and what they are doing at school as much as I can. He also has a scrap book with pics and artwork in.
Hope that'll be enough for the powers that be!

Mine was more interested in how i worked with the school and shared info when starting reception than anything i had done since :eek: , she did say i should just be backing up school as they are the one with the child more than i am :)

My inspector actually said that she didn't agree with us having to provide eyfs for school aged children. However that is just one inspector. She didn't really spend much time looking at afterschool provision at all. I wrote some examples in my SEF about afterschool care and I think that was enough for her. I do have All about me books (scrap books) with their drawings, photos of them playing, colouring etc and some certificates for things they have done. She liked that I asked one of my afterschool children to help me do a risk assessment round the house and I gave him a certificate for it.

My inspector wanted to see things in place for my school aged children. She said she would be really impressed, even though they are not within the EYFS (I have no reception age kids, only my own). I had kept a few things and they all have a scrap book and she was happy with that.
SO i thnk it all depends on your inspector x

Had mine last week and she didn't really ask about school age children. Even though I'm on all 3 registers. She did ask about working with other settings, which she saw evidence that I attend cluster meetings with all types of settings in my local area and photo evidence of activities, which she looked at, but did ask questions about.
Looking at all the different replies they're inconsistent what they're looking for:rolleyes:

It would be SO MUCH easier if they had standard expectations :mad: That would be far too sensible though ( tee Hee! ) :rolleyes:

mine gave me actions on needed to link my obs of the reception aged children with their early learning goals. :rolleyes: (how come I got the tough inspector??) but i do have them for 2 hours after school 4/5 days a week.
she also wanted me to write more in the way of planning so i planned aiming towards the early learning goals rather than just activities that i thought would help them in a round about way.
