I have just been asked to care for my cousin who is aged 10 :) , Im not sure how it effect the new EYFS and how it effects numbers etc, its only for a hour after school 3 days a week.
I have never looked after children of this age before and i know things have changed with regards to the new children registers.

Thanks in advance

You need to follow the requirements of the childcare register.

There are some differences between this register and the Eyfs which you need to show on your policies etc.

http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/Ofsted-home/Forms-and-guidance/Browse-all-by/Other/General/Requirements-for-the-Childcare-Register-childminders-and-home-childcarers/(language)/eng-GB

Apart from that, just make sure you have toys, games etc the child can use to stay busy and be able to show Ofsted that he is involved in decision making / choosing activities etc.

Hth :D

Do over 8's get classed in our numbers? on my Certificate it states childmind no more than 3 children at any one time.

Does that mean he is classed in the 3?

Im sure, If asked he'll tell you wot he likes doing at the mo, anything (obviously with parental controls etc) on the computer, a 'spare' Ninetendo DS Lite if you have one
My 10 yr old still likes his toy cars & mat ( I dont want him growing up to fast :) )
Drawing and stuff, Mosaics etc.
Mechano (is that how you spell it?) Lego, Knex and Magnetix (obviously keep them away from little ones) are good ones.. Connect Four, Chess, Operation etc
And my two enjoy helping me look after the little ones and playing with them.
Just a few ideas :o
