Hello, im a bit new here and a very nervous newby at that!. ive got my 1st ofstead inspection on wednesday which im looking forward to but am getting a bit bogged down with all my prep work. when i started my registration process it was in june and i was given loads of paperwork from my council officer. basically since the changes that came into force in septeber ive been given a heap load more. ive been brushing up on my eyfs and safeguarding children as im surei will be quizzed on them however ive found some paperwork relating to the national standards. in my head i had this down as being replaced by the eyfs. am i right in thinking that, and if so can i leave that paperwork for now or should i re study that too before wednesday? help ive got myself soooooooo confused!
i only sent my forms off to ofstead this week im a bit shocked at how quick they got back to mo lol, its caught me offguard! was expecting a 2 week wait at least what with christmas fast approaching!

Hi, you need to concentrate on the standards because thats what you will be inspected on, just make sure your covering everything on there and you will be ok.
Its good that you know what day shes coming! Good luck

Sorry, but I disagree.
I only started looking into childminding in Sept and the whole time I have been told that 5 welfare requirements EYFS have replaced the 14 national standards.
From what I can gather there is a muchness about them, but EYFS is the route to go.
If I am wrong, I am sure someone with more experience will be along shortly.

The National Standards are all gone now so you can get rid of that paperwork (makes it a little less :))
You are right, the 5 Welfare Requirements now replace all that and it is what you will be inspected on.
Don't panic too much, a pre-reg inspection is just that, they are there to help you get started and won't be too picky and if you show you know what you are talking about they will be impressed. :)

oooh i keep losing my replies..sorry i must be doing something wrong, bloomin newbies lol!
just wanted to say a big thankyou for your replies. ive quite gladly dumped the national standards paperwprk (hurrah!) and have been focusing on the eyfs. something tells me the little fold out filing system i got in the supermarket to hold all my childminding paperwork isnt quite going to cut the mustard lol!
well ive been cleaning like a madwoman ans am due to be inspected on wednesday morning, quite nervous but ive just filled in my pre reg ofstead quesstionaire booklet (quite a task!). had a bit of a bad week as we have all been laid low with proper flu so ive not really achived as much as i would have liked to, i was planning a big de clutter but have had to give in and hide it all away for another day. my poor wardrobes and cubby holes are groaning!
thankyou once again for the replies it can be a bit lonley this application stuff, my husband thinks ive lost the plot and is shocked at how much work is involved in (ahem, and i quote..) "babysitting!"
thanks so much
