I am currently registered for four children. One of the parents of a child I have just two days a week has asked me if I can have him after school for five days a week as the other childminder I share with is giving up. I contacted Ofsted about increasing my numbers, I emailed them about 2 weeks ago. The parent has been hassling me cos she needs me from January. I have been trying to call Ofsted to find out what is happening called Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Eventually they called back on Wednesday afternoon and she said that while they were looking at my variation request that they will do my inspection as well, and could she come on Monday!!!!!

I was stunned cos I had my last inspection 2 years ago so was not expecting it and I then said that Monday was party at toddlers and we were staying for lunch, she then said Tuesday I said same thing it was toddlers party. She asked about Wednesday and I said I wasn't sure but didn't really want her coming cos I am settling in 21 month old twins they came this Wednesday and are coming next Wednesday so didn't feel she would see them at their best. Anyway she said she would get back to me.

She called at 5.10 p.m. and said that I can relax they are increasing my numbers to six and my inspection will not be next week, that it will be next year or the year after. She was actually really nice and said that she wanted to call me so that I could sleep that night!!!!

She was helpful too and we spoke about risk assessments I explained that I do mine on a laminated sheet and mark it off each day she said this was fine just so long as when they come out and have my inspection that everything is in place cos She went to one house and the cm said that she had risk assessment for the garden and when she went outside there was broken glass, drain uncovered and washing line that the kids were running into.
