I have been registered for 3 months but had a baby etc so just starting to advertise now. My concern is that there's a lot of talk (panicky talk in some cases) of a SEF. What is this, should I be having one? Ofsted not contected me about a SEF and is it something I have to sort out myself?

Any help would be great x

I'd been registered 4 months before Ofsted sent me mine. I've just filled it in - only been minding for 2 months and have found it quite tricky. Sarah Nevs guide is invaluable in explaining it all.

Goodness! I will contact Ofsted I think, rub it in that they've slipped up a wee bit. Thank you!

Just called Ofsted about the SEF, explained I didn't know any thing about it, she wasn't in the least surprised but also as if she'd been waiting for me to call to arrange the relevant information to be sent out.

If it wasn't for this website I wouldn't have a clue about it. I know they're keen for childminders to sort every thing out for themselves but a 'heads up' to let me know i'm required to do a SEF would have surely been acceptable.

I feel like they're trying to trip me up - now i'm worrying about what else i've missed that I should be doing!
