I am afraid that is not an easy question to answer.
It really does differ from area to area.
I know that my area is pretty much up to date and is now inspecting randomly.
If you want it to be done you could always ring and prompt them.

Same in this area. Seem fairly up to date - or at least catching up with themselves pretty much!
Hubby had his fist inspection 6 weeks after being reg!

I also heard that they are inspecting randomly in my area as well. One minder isn't due her inspection until May next year, but she ended up having it last month.

It was 3 yrs in July since I was last inspected so I am expecting my call anytime soon. The only people I know in my area that have had inspections lately have been some pre-reg ladies....so I've no idea whether my area is behind or not (Bradford)

We have been told in our area that all inspections are going to be random regardless of when your last inspection was!
I don't want mine yet - I want everything up together before they come and could be some weeks as lots of family stuff happening at the moment

I live in liverpool and my inspection was due on 9 September 08 - I received a phone call on Wednesday 29th @ noon to say my inspector would like to come on Thursday 30th with his inspector. I do now of childminders that were due in May last year and still awaiting for inspection. http://childmindinghelp.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/panic.gif

It can't be that random, otherwise some people will get inspected every year and others may go for more than 3yrs.
Guess they don't want anyone to be slacking and we all have to be on our toes all the time.
But then when you are a good childminder, then it does not matter as they will see how brilliant you are all the time.:)
