Hi everyone. I just thought i'd share with you my first Ofted inspection which I've just had. It went pretty well I think. The lady said the house was all good, apart from a minor thing about the window in the playroom. It is a fire escape window so does not lock, but she said I have to put a catch on it to stop it opening fully. Defeats the object of a fire regulation window, but I can see where she's coming from from a safety point of view.

She was impressed with my paperwork and said how it was good that I'd included lots from the EYFS in my policies. I was the first person she'd inspected that had the EYFS framework documents.

She said she is registering me for the maximum number of children (6) under 8 years old. I think she said only three of those can be under 5, and 1 baby under 1. As my son is over 8 she said he won't affect my figures which is good.

She didn't tell me what my overall rating was and I forgot to ask :( But I should hear once my registration comes through which will take 4-6 weeks as I have to wait for our CRB checks to come through. I can't wait that long!!!

I'm so excited! Do you think I should start advertising now, or wait a few weeks?

Thanks. I have just put up a big window decal in the back window of my car with my company name and number on and a car door magnet with my website on. You gotta love Vistaprint! Lol. Will leave it a couple of weeks before I put all my leaflets and flyers around the doors! x

Congratulations!!

Yes it does sound like a pre-reg visit, you will get a proper inspection in about 6 months, so keep working on things, especially your SEF!! :)

Good luck with the advertising. :)

Thanks eveyone. I've heard a few ppl talking on here about their SEF but i'm a bit clueless as to what it entails. What do I have to do exactly?

Once you are registered, you will get info about it...

It's a self evaluation form (sef) which you upload into Ofsted's system and keep updated.

It helps when you are inspected.

Don't worry about it yet... time enough to panic when you've got your certificate through! :D
