I am having my first proper inspectio tomorrow or tuesday and have only been minding 9 weeks (EEEEEKKK!!)
I have't had proper EYFS training yet and didn't get birth to 3 training as it was being abolished so don't have any experience with that to fall back on - as a more experienced childminder would (I presume)
I will be the first in my borough to be inspected under EYFS and there are childminders I know which registered a few months before me and other childminders that are overdue for their 3 year inspection.
Am I correct in thinking they usualy give you 6 - 9 months to get established and all your trining sorted??
I know it sounds paranoid but it seems as if Ofsted are looking to inspect those who are less likely to do well at the moment...... Any views?
I wish they had given me a few more months because I am stuck with the report I get for another 3 years now :panic:
Luckily our support worker at Wigan council is ace and she has given me some brilliant guidance. I was up until 3am this morning working through everything and still need to get my SEF done!!
I am a self confessed panicker but I just think its a bit soon for me (and the other postees on here which seem to be very new to childminding) to be getting inspected just now.
Am I being totally paranoid????

It's a bit quick!!!! They can't expect you to be all organized when you've only been working for such a short time.
Good luck, im sure you will be fine, it does seem quick but on the other hand at least it will be out of the way for 3 yrs!!!
Let us know if you need any help and keep us posted on how it goes xx

Good luck with your inspection!
Yes it is very quick. A lot of new minders in my area are having inspections soon as well. My friend has had "the phone call" and she registered in May, like you. I was registered in April but I haven't heard anything yet.
I know of someone else who is due there inspection next May but she had a call from ofsted to say they will be out to her next week, and she has been minding for years.
I think it's all to do with the EYFS, they are trying to get as much done as they can. That is the impression I am getting

I had my first inspection after only 4 weeks of childminding and I was totally unprepared as I had been told it would be 5-7 months after registration, I had been registered for 3.

Good Luck.
Seems like you are right - new childminders around here have been inspected quickly too. I was due an inspection last April so was certain I would get one of the first calls but nothing yet. I wish they would so I could get it off my mind.
