hi ladies, can anyone please tell me EXACTLY what is needed for the inspection..there are so many scare mongers out there and rumours that I'm really starting to panic. Although I want to do a good job i only mind part-time and really don't want to go overboard just to impress the inspector with reams of paperwork.

there just doesnt seem to be anyone or anywhere that states clearly exactly what you have to display and the paperwork you have to do (i've only been minding 4 months..it seems once you've sone the course your on your own!)

Can anyone with an understanding of ofsted and eyfs please tell me what exactly we have to have on our display board, what paperwork has to be in place etc (i'm up to date with contracts, accounts, contact forms, medical stuff and policies and procedures). not sure on things like frequency of fridge test and fire alarm test.

i only have 1 mindee aged 22 months, by the time we do toddlers in the morn, get home for lunch we have 20 mins play then its nap time, she's up for 20 mins then mum comes to collect.. howevver i've heard i'm supposed to be do obs and planning and themes etc......HELP is the inspector going to shut me down when she arrives as i've not got the time to do this...or do i stop toddlers and stay at home to get this stuff done?

i'm rambling but please please someone in the know please help!

Nobody knows for sure sorry... but its not worth being stressed, you can only do your best and there's nothing wrong with satisfactory it says you are working to some very exacting standards.

The only sources of info are 'are you ready for your inspection?' from ofsted and the Eyfs... if you do everything it says in those 2 publications you cannot go far wrong

Display board - whatever you wantt to share with parents - certificate, first aid, menu, latest newsletter, note about bringing wellies, escape plan in case of fire...

Paperwork - sounds like you're organised there. Make sure everything is signed by parents.

Fridge test - daily check temperature. Download and read 'safer food better business for caterers' from here -

Fire alarm - I test my alarms weekly and we do monthly fire practices. These should be written down along with any problems and how you intend to solve them.

You don't do themes for under 3s so don't worry about that. Instead think of all the bits of the Eyfs she is meeting at toddlers! she's socialising and sharing (psed), talking to adults / children / reading books / mark making (cll), looking at the world around her as you go there and back in the car / buggy (kuw) etc...

Focus on all the good work you already do... not on what the inspector might want to see. You are clearly doing a good job... write it up!

Don't stop going out ... the main part of Eyfs is about children playing (at toddlers), being safe (risk assessments), being healthy (snack at toddlers, lunch with you), enjoying and achieving (playing and having fun), making a positive contribution (understanding simple rules and seeing multicultural images in the world around her)... That's your job.

i'm rambling but please please someone in the know please help!

Hope this helps! Ask again if there's anything else. :D
