Have had my phone call from Ofsted this afternoon saying that they will be coming next week to do my inspection!! After my initial panic attack, i feeling a bit better about it now. I've worked hard sorting out all my EYFS stuff so am hoping everything will go okay. Its my first one since becoming registered! The only thing I've been struggling is the planning for EYFS. I've got the observations and assessments fine with a scrapbook per child but am unsure how to record the plans for individual children following on from these assessments. Basically its how to record all of my plans that i struggle with. I do topics per month which i record activities for on medium term plan sheets. Then i have a weekly timetable stuck on my kitchen fridge that i record activities pulled off from medium term plans and from children's assessments. This is like a white board tho so gets wiped off at the end of each week. I have also got a small file per child where i fill the sheets out of the active learning book in and do activity plans for an individual activity or learning goals that i feel will benefit the individual child following on from their assessments. I've only just started this though so haven't got much evidence to show the inspector! Does this sound right?

Don't forget, Eyfs only started on 1st Sept... you won't have reams of paper to show by the 3rd week...

For planning, you need to have a good idea of...

what you are doing every day

why you are doing what you are doing...

So... X likes throwing balls and you plan to do some athletics in the garden following the very topical olympics theme (include disabled olympics as well)...

Y likes pushing the buggy round with the dollies so you plan to go shopping to put together a care bag for dolly... maybe a brush, sponge to wipe her face, blanket etc.

That's your individual planning for the week...

Group planning... well, you decided to follow the olympic theme and ...

Keep it short and punchy... does that make sense? :D
