Hi everyone.

I am about to send off all my paper's for OFSTED and have been told that under the new EYFS regulations, they MUST come out to inspect your home within 6 weeks after receiving your forms. I have got most of my paperwork ready, which I have worked SO hard on, making from scratch (and using 2 ink cartridges in the process!). I have a portfolio which includes a bit about me, all of my policies, contracts, etc; medication records, accident and incident records, Comments, complaints and suggestions book, Risk assessment record book and fire safety book, fire drill log, fire alarm test, fire escape plan, Attendance register, and children's own book which they'll each get. This includes all of their details, allergies, consent forms, price list, contracts, etc etc.

I have bought quite a few multicultural books and toys and have risk assessed everything...now i'm so nervous about the inspection that I am scared to post off my forms!

Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect on my first inspection? What sort of questions will I be asked? Somebody told me it lasts 3 hours! What happens in that time? Will they inspect the whole house:o ?

What exactly are you worried about?

You've done more preparation work than most...

3 hours is about average but it passes very quickly...

You clearly know what you are doing...

Get the things in the post! :D

OK, will get them done tomorrow morning. Thanks girls. Just have this image in my head of some snooty woman looking down on me. I'm not a very confident person...especially when I know somebody is judging me! I hope it all goes OK. x

The only advice I can give you that might help is:

Remember that they are not your employer

You seem very well prepared - would think the inspector will be impressed

Good luck

wow well done

good luck

one thing would be good for us all would be a very large TICK LIST
of everything we should have in place, and more,,,

like a self evaluation but worded in english lol

eg, list all your Policies,,, then a list and tick the ones we have and then make any we may have missed.

Risk Assessments,, do you risk ass every morning yes/no
have you assessments on your outings list them,,,,

ohhh so english and easy to understand lol

i keep going over everything time n time again because im sure there is something i have missed and ofsted will find it !!

Go and post those forms! You have everything prepared and therefore nothing to lose. When i had my pre reg i had nothing prepared. My partner and i had only been living in our house for a few months, so we were still decorating and everything.

Good luck

My Husband -to-be posted my forms this morning! I read on the paperwork somewhere that they usually do the inspection within 2-4 weeks of receiving the forms, so i'm getting on top of the house work, making sure everything's ready for when they come!!

Thanks for all you advice ladies. I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

Can I start childminding as soon as they've been (providing I pass their inspection!) or do I have to wait for a certificate to come through the post?

You will have to do a course (ICP) and your first aid first... plus waiting for the CRB to come through.

A realistic estimate if you are starting now is after Christmas I would think.

Hope it all goes smoothly for you! :D

I was told on my ofsted information session that you can start childminding as soon as you receive your certificate providing you do the 5 EYFS modules within 10 weeks after you start to childmind.
