I had my inspection today and got good for everything. I felt a little deflated after all the hard work I put into this job. In fact it is my life and I really do put my all into it. I dont like the word GOOD! It just doesnt sound good to me if you now what I mean!!!I just feel like no one has truly recognised how enthusiastic, etc I am. Sorry to moan but needed to get it of my chest to people that might understand! x

I understand! I think it is a bit difficult as it is all new with the EYFS.
You have done very well though and you should be proud of yourself!

Just remember its a fab grade and means something to anyone in this job.
I know what you mean about the word good tho. I remember in English at school being told not to use the words nice or good as they dont show much imagination! well thats ofsted for you. Perhaps they should have 4 standards called WOW, BRILL, GETTING THERE AND NOT EVEN CLOSE.
That should get people understanding!

Well done on both getting throught the new inspection and surviving and and even bigger well done for such a GOOD - oops sorry mean FANTASTIC grade. Inspectors have said that it is going to be really difficult to get an outstanding.
I can understand the amount of effort you have put into this as I too have been working at it non stop for such a long time now. We can all recognise your enthusiasm, energy and hard work - they on the other hand do not know as they are not on this forum.
Keep up the good. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

:clapping: First of all Congratulations :clapping: You got good under EYFS when no-one knows what they are looking for. :clapping: I think that is brilliant :clapping:
Secondly I agree with the word Good not being that "good" because I know some CM's who got the same grade as me and I think how did they get the same grade as me? I also know a childminder who I would class as Outstanding but because she works all the hours possible and doesnt have time for all the paperwork she is graded as Good.

Congrats on your great grade.
Totally know what you mean about the word Good though, it does sound a bit nondescript doesn't it?

Congratulations on a great result!!:clapping:
I know what you mean about the word 'good' though. I don't think 'satisfactory' is very nice either!! Makes you feel really inadequate.:(

I'm sorry you feel disappointed because I'm sure you deserved an outstanding :)
I've often wondered what it is you have to do to get a grade like that so if anyone knows please share it with us?

oh thank you every one it is so OUTSTANDINGINGLY good to share my thoughts and know others understand the frustration in being graded as good! I dont want to sound negative as I am thrilled to have done so well on my first inspection and it means there is room for improvement which I will take on board and work towards being OUTSTANDING for next time! I think they should come back and revisit you after say 6 months to see what improvements you have made and how you have reviewed your report etc!? She told me my next one will be in between 3 and 4 years! I think that is far too long.
Also I feel that if I was inspected in August I would have had a much better chance of getting a higher grade.
I also agree with the comments on other childminders I know who got the same grade but are so not bothered about the job and do the bare minimum of work! I feel the whole process of ofsted inspections are really unfair and it also depends on who you get, what mood they are in, what pressures they have etc. I have a friend who is a childminder and she recently got a good grade. She had done no paper work at all and had no interest in the job/profesional development side to it. As a favour the week before her inspection I gave her all my paper work to use and ideas etc. She quickly printed off a few policies and made up some obs and planning. It just proves what a farce it is!
I feel like I could easily have got a good grade without all the effort that I put in, which is a shame as it demoralises (sp)!you.
Anyway it has helped me to confirm that I am going to go back to being a Teaching Assistant in the near future. This has all been a graet learning curve for me and a really BIG thanks to everyone on the forum for all the help and advice I have recieved. I really do mean it when I say I couldnt have done it without you!

By the way I just wanted to point out that I defo didnt expect an outstanding grade! I just think there should be different levels of good! Not everyone is the same and i think that they harp on on about how do we meet the childrens individal needs etc, so why not personalise our grades and reports to suit the individual childminder! We spend so much time making sure we meet all the childrens needs so why cant they do the same for us!? We have needs too dont you think. I think we should be treated the same, equally and fairly. This is not the case with the grading system that is in place. We are all catergerised and put into a grade box on the basis of a couple of hours visit from a inspector.
Sorry im going on again, I could talk forever on this subject so I will leave it there!
Im going to have a glass of wine and chill. It will all be forgotten tommorrow and Ill be back into the swing of things.:)

Well done for getting a good ! I would have been more than happy with that grade.
Having an outstanding hasn't brought me more work ( not that i want more ) ,it doesn't mean i can charge more, it doesn't really mean a thing to the parents - or more importantly the children
What means far more to me are that the children are happy , healthy and developing well and that the parents are happy with what I do.

Hi i had my ofsted inspection yesterday, I have had to wait alsmost a year for it which has been a pain due to the eyfs. I then had a phonecall tuesday only had 2 days notice! I got good all the way through so I was really pleased, they only had a couple of minor recommendations. But i know what you mean "good" is not a great word, hey but i'm still delighted.
