Hello
When would you change your car insurance to business use?
If I wait until I get confirmation I am registered would I be marked down on my pre-reg inspection.
Thanks for your help ladies:)

When I started childminding I had not sorted out my insurance. The first parent that came to see me wanted me to start the next day. I asked her to give me one extra day cos I needed to sort out my car insurance, which I done the next day it was just a matter of a phone call to my insurance company.

You need business use on your car the day you put your first mindee inside it to go somewhere.
Until then it can be on your things to do list :D

It only takes a phone call so could be done at any time, however it didn't cost me any extra so don't suppose there's much harm in doing it anyway.

Has anyone had to pay a penalty to end their current insurance when they needed to take out the business ins? Just thinking my insurance is up for renewal at end of sept but will need it changing for minding just after xmas.

Be aware of which business use you are being registered for. NCMA ran an article a few issues back saying that childminders needed class 4 - baloney we only need class 1 business use and you insurance shouldn't rise in price
