Have today emailed a letter to Ofsted requesting a variation to my certificate from Feb 2009. Posting a copy this afternoon as well. Question is how long does it take Ofsted to respond i.e when should I start chasing them???

Am keen to know as if they won't allow that means my only mindee at the moment won't be with me much longer if I can't have his baby sister from Feb!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sure if it for a sibling of a child you already care for you shouldnt have any probs.

Did you put lots of details in about how you would ensure you meet all the childrens needs etc?

I would give them a few days and then give them a call, just check tey have recieved it and are looking at it.

Good luck.

they did a sibling one for me in two weeks and my baby one took 3 weeks. i chased after 2 weeks and told them that i needed it asap so they got on to it quickly. you'll need to tell them you need a decision soon.

The letter was three days long showing a table with the names, ages and length of time with me together with a list of how I would meet everyone's needs including equipment etc. I know the variation doesn't come into play until Feb 08 but if I don't get it them mum is going to place the boy elsewhere sooner the rather than later

Ofsted are really busy at the moment with the changeover to EYFS and I think that your request should be answered with 3 weeks.

If you need to know earlier try calling them.

The are very accomodating at present and with a Continuity of Care issue I have never heard of them turning it down

I don't think you need to panic.....

Oh this is interesting. I have a variation in place on a Tuesday for siblings, and now the mum has asked me if they could come on a Thursday too, which means a variance for another day for the same kids.

Do some people have a variance for the WHOLE week, as apposed to my needing a variance for 1 or 2 days a week?

Do you think it's likely I'll be granted it? :)

I was told by Ofsted that variation requests can take up to 28 days! Its such a log time when you've got parents who need to know so they can make other arrangements if necessary.
