Hi all
I just wanted to let you all know my news regarding my ofsted inspection which was done on the 16 April this year because this may help others with theirs.
I was quite happy with my overall grading of "Good" but was disappointed with the staying safe section which I only got Satisfactory because of a child protection question which I apparently got wrong.
The inspector asked my what I would do if I had any Child Protection concerns. I answered her by saying it would depend on the concern but I would probably go to my network co-ordinator for advice. The inspector immediately pounced on me saying that I should never do that as to do so would be breaking confidentiality and I should go straight to the Local Safeguarding Children Board.
As a result my inspection report didn't look too good with 2 Outstandings, 2 Goods and 1 Satisfactory.
I raised my concerns with my network co-ordinator as she was the person who had given me those procedures and she was adamant that I was following the correct procedures.
She enquired directly with the Local Safeguarding Children Board and they acknowledged that I was acting correctly also.
With this knowledge she then approached a manager at Ofsted and he also agreed that I was acting correctly.
I finally sent a letter off - 4 months after my inspection, for the grading to be upgraded to a good and they have upheld my complaint.
Sorry for the long thread but for those of you wondering whether it is a good idea to complain to Ofsted, then I would say definately!
Their complaints procedure states that they only look at complaints up to 30 days after the publishing of the inspection, but I did it 4 months after and they have still upheld it.
I'm so pleased and wanted to share this with you. Well done to those who read to the end!!!
