Morning

Just popping on to see how everyone is doing with it being the first week back after the Christmas break? My week has been a lot quieter than expected as some of the children have been off due to illness, seems there is a lot of things still doing the rounds.

It's been very cold here but we have avoided the snow.

My week has been quieter too because I have one on a skiing holiday all week - it's all right for some!

I've been settling a new baby this week and she has been a dream. Having said that, it still always shocks me at how tiring it is having an almost one year old - you can't take your eyes off them for a second.

I've had a couple of 'main characters' leave at Christmas and I feel like I've got a bit of a disjointed cohort now. Such a mix of ages. I usually have two or three who are very close in age, so I focus my theme/main planning on them and then just tweak it up or down for the older and younger ones. They are all different ages now and while they are all sweet, they don't really 'gel' as a group. They all seem to have different interests, needs and learning styles. Even DH has commented that they all seem to be just quietly doing their own thing. I've felt quite sorry for them at times. I'm sure we'll find our feet gradually.

It's been really cold and slippery here too so we haven't ventured out beyond the garden this week as it is quite hilly where we live, so I didn't want to risk any falls.

oh Maza I know what you mean ... I have a 'solid' group, and then an 'outlier' each day ( although both the group and outlier change ) and it works, but when you have a disparate age group, its harder. I'm finding my little ones, who have all just turned 2 though, are settling in and joining in/taking part with the others now, so all good.

It's been freezing cold and icy, but today we went to the beach and had a fantastic time. The sun shone, the sky was blue, and if you didn't notice the waterproof suits/coats/hats/mittens, you could be forgiven for thinking it was summer :laughing::laughing: it was 'almost warm' at 2 degrees in the sun!!! it didn't feel cold anyway! However, i did say a firm NO to going IN the sea!!!

I've a new little one settling tomorrow. should be fine - we know them, and they know us from other groups, so fingers crossed!

enjoy the rest of the week everyone :group hug::group hug:

This is my first week back and I’m finding the two little ones a bit trying. 18mths and 27mths with the younger being far more boisterous than the old. Both have had lots of family around them over the two weeks I’ve been off and are struggling with our normal boundaries. It will get better, I’m sure. Take care everyone in this cold weather
