Hi all,

I submitted my application to Ofsted to register as a childminder a couple of days ago- I'm still waiting on a URN so I can take my health declaration to my doctor. How long does it normally take to get a URN?

Also, how long does it normally take from submitting the registration application to being contacted for a registration visit? Is this usually after ofsted have your health declaration from GP and references checked etc?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to childminding! :clapping:

Ofsted try to complete new registrations within 12 weeks - but it can take a lot longer than that depending on what happens with the paperwork.

You can find more information here - https://www.gov.uk/register-childminder-childcare-provider/after-you-apply

I hope it goes smoothly for you :)

I submitted in June and got my registration certificate the first week of December - everything went smoothly...except my doctor filled my form in wrong ....and I left him sitting on it for 3 weeks. There are several little things that can cause mishaps!
I was registering to look after a friends LO - so I went ahead and looked after him - for no payment ( I am his token grandma as all his had died and already looked after him adhoc ) - until it came through. I had a lovely Christmas gift from them that year.
